When
Rockheim and
Ringve Museum initiated their first joint venture, Klipp og Lim was chosen to make a video-loop and all the printed matter for an exhibition celebrating the 25th anniversary for the song
”Lys og varme” written by the celebrated Norwegian song writer, Åge Aleksandersen. The exhibition explores the public’s relationship with the song, as the simple ballad has become an integral and celebrated part of Norwegian cultural history.
Our brief was to make a video-loop containing images visualizing the several aspects of life where people have connected with the song and lyrics of ”
Lys og varme”, over the last 25 years.
We where also asked to make a visual profile (logo, graphic elements etc.)
We where given access to different kind of archive material which contained news and video-clips. We had several meetings with the staff from Ringve and Rockheim, where we discussed what images and visuals to apply. All this, along with our own personal experiences with the song, was used to piece together the visuals.
The visuals ended up as a mix between 80’s kitsch and baroque elements. The latter referring to Ringve as a communicator of antique musical artefacts and history. The element of kitsch refers to the song having such a long life that it has gone in and out of fashion over the years.
The finished result is now on display at Ringve museum. We have made 8 banners with text and graphic elements (including a 4 meter across timeline displaying the journey of the song through the last 25 years), and a opening event poster. The video loop, which equals the song length, was pieced together by Lars Hegdal, and will be shown at Ringve museum along with the other visuals, throughout 2009.
