Velg Riktig Campaign

3. February, 2010 Ι 0 Comments Ι Tags: , , ,

We recently finished an animation made to promote velgriktig.no, which is to be shown on cinemas across the country. The purpose of the campaign is to recruit more students to mathematics and the natural sciences. The site is developed and run by RENATE, a governmentally initiated centre for promoting increased recruitment to this field.

Campaign material produced by us consists of the above commercial for cinema, a web-based film contest and ads for web and print. The cinema commercial reuses visual elements from an illustration developed by Oxygen and is narrated by Solveig Hareide, known from the popular TV-show Newton, who is also be present in the printed advertisements.

Complex Solutions

DARPS

We recently finished a film for Kongsberg Seatex, made to present their variety of high-end marine applications. The film deals with something called DARPS (Differential Absolute and Relative Positioning Sensors). It combines high-performance sensors allowing reliable and accurate absolute and relative positioning of two vessels such as a shuttle tanker and an FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel).

Our mission was to communicate these complex solutions emphasizing the wide range of applications and their individual features aimed at a general audience. A curiosity to be mentioned is that Leiv Eriksons last harbor in Norway before discovering America is right outside their office. Kongsberg Seatex takes pride in this legacy and wants to defend their position as a leading voice in the field of maritime navigation in the years to come.

The project is also viewable from it’s portfolio-entry.

Resman Moods

Resman entrance

When Resman were re-doing their offices, we were asked to create something unique to meet visitors — amongst several other things, we created motion graphics meant to introduce the Resman brand and set the right mood by using profile elements with accompanying audio. Two flat-panel LCDs at the entrance with directional speakers to play back the sound were installed, which enables passing visitors to listen in granted they stand in front of the screen. This ensures that the audio won’t be heard throughout the rest of the office space (which might get annoying in the long run).

As the movie is meant to span across two widescreen LCD’s next to each other, it doesn’t really fit a standard web format as you can see from the movie above. Note that the movie is meant to be running looped in the background which explains why it’s somewhat slow in it’s progression, it has an almost meditative feel to it, so put on your headset, sit back and relax. The music theme is based around the ‘Resman theme’ that Sander has composed — the same theme that every Resman employee gets as his or her own ringtone, personalized to the style of music that he or she prefers.

For more on Resman, see the Identity-job. The film is also available at Vimeo.

Official Secrets Act – So Tomorrow

Came across this awesome video, created by James Houston who also created the amazing “Big Ideas” remix. I just love how he’s thoroughly designed every single scene in this video to look so extremely retro-futuristic.

Peripetics

As quoted from Zeitguised website, “Zeitguised made a piece in six acts for the opening exhibition at the Zirkel Gallery. It entails six imaginations of disoriented systems that take a catastrophic turn, including the evolution of educational plant-body-machine models and liquid building materials.” Pretty interesting stuff.

Motion & Audio Experiments

Update: this reel is now also featured on The FWA Theater

Me and Sander have put together a small reel showcasing a few experiments with motion effects and Sanders skills at producing audio. The reel consists of several pieces and scraps from animations I’ve been playing around with the last few months and a dark and distorted soundtrack that’s been synchronized with the visuals. Please do turn up the volume for this one.
