iPhone

I’ve been trying for quite some time now getting my iPhone’s default calendar application to sync up with Google Calendar, which is my calendar of choice. I’ve understood this isn’t that hard to achieve for anyone using a Mac, but being a Windows-user it appeared to be more difficult, especially since I don’t use Outlook either. I’ve searched and searched for a simple solution without any luck, up until I came across a perfect solution to the problem: NuevaSync.

NuevaSync is free, extremely simple and works like a charm, no software needed. I signed up, logged in, set up my iPhone in a few simple steps (by following the simple instructions provided on their website after you’ve logged in) and BAM, my iPhone’s calendar was packed with all the dates and events from all my Google calendars. It enables direct, over-the-air, native synchronization, and whenever you add a new event to your calendar it’s updated automatically. Even if you’re already using iCal, this solution is incredibly simple and effective and I recommend it to anyone who’s interested in having Google Calendar and your iPhone in sync.

I also use nuevasync and after some initial problems (I started using it just one day after Firmware 2.0 release) it now works really well and even regards calender alerts.

One thing I am a bit concerned about is that you have to give them your google account password as they don’t use calender tokens. And giving away the password to my main email account to a company I don’t know is something that worries me…

Ok, forget my previous concerns about the password. They now use the google tokens/captchas and don’t need the password any more. (They used to in the beginning…)

So now, they have my full support. These guys are great ;-)

Stephan,

I am currently using outlook for calendars sync with my iPhone. Will I really be loosing all my calendar events in my iPhone? NeuvaSync says on their website:
“WARNING: Apple devices WILL DELETE ALL YOUR EXISTING CONTACT AND CALENDAR DATA on the iPhone/iPod, when you configure sync. This is a feature of the iPhone and is not under our control. Make sure you have made a backup with iTunes if you need your existing device data.”

How did you keep (or recover) your events on your iPhone? Or did you only use Google Calendar before? If so, I welcome others that are using NeuvaSync but were using Outlook before.

Thank you!
Nicolas

Stephan,
Make sure you Sync you outlook calendar and contacts with gmail Calendar and Contacts. Once you made sure you that all the information is safely available on gmail then you can sync with Neuvasync.
